Emily Longfellow is the co-founder of Vimana Yoga in Basalt, and Carbondale Colorado. She started teaching yoga in 1996 after taking the fourth 500 hour certification from the Yoga College of India. She then went on to open studios in Aspen, Basalt, and Glenwood Springs Colorado. She’s always believed that the best teacher is also the best student, so she has immersed herself in the healing arts for the past twenty years. She has been studying and practicing Kriya yoga since 1996; THE 84 since 1997, Nidra since 1998, attending sweat lodges, women's circles, and holds certificates in Cranio Sacral and Massage Therapy, and is also part of the Synergy Tribe. She’s Yoga Alliance certified through Para Yoga; and has taught at Wanderlust, Lead with Love, and has been featured in ORIGIN magazine, and Pregnancy Guide to Yoga. She shares the professional side of being a career yoga teacher by dedicating her time teaching in the public school system.
Her classes are an amalgamation of all of her training, and her passion for therapeutic hot yoga, coupled with the time she’s spent studying and assisting her teacher Rod Stryker. She currently offers 40 hour pocket trainings, assists at THE E84 trainings, and offers the annual Vimana 200 hour YA Teacher Training that is held in Basalt Colorado.
As a teacher she holds space for you in your practice to experience the connection between your mind, body and spirit. She will encourage you to make the necessary adjustments that will help you to realize your dreams, on and off the mat. When she retired from Yoga competition in 2013, she didn't retire from yoga.. Although she spends much of her time focused on her two kids, and the Vimana teacher training's; Vimana has been the vehicle for her inversion practice, and the platform for many yogis to find success in teaching, and in their personal practice. She is thrilled to be able to share her passion for yoga with the One Fire Family.
